He refers to it as ‘I’

How To Know God, The Yoga Aphorisms of Patanjali trans. by Swami Prabhavananda and Christopher Isherwood

It is a photo, your standard school portrait, the kind that came in a split screen of sizes, from wallet to mantle. He has a small face with even smaller teeth in a big smile. His little right front tooth is half the size of the little front left tooth because it’s not all the way in. His polo shirt is orange with the green icon on the chest and the backdrop is sky blue. The wallet size version sits in a plastic I.D. badge that hangs around his neck. People have to bend to read it but they don’t. They smile politely as they pass, trying to reconcile the smiling boy with the man in the motorized chair.
